I was a zombie, halfway to being a cyclopes

I promise to have a post soley of photographs soon. There are reasons to come with the abundance of words and lack of pretty pictures.

It has been a week since i had conjunctivitis, yes, pink eye. For those of you who know, it is common for my left eye to go red and ugly for a few days about once a month. When I woke up early thursday morning, i was wondering why i was crying...I went to the toilet and looked in the mirror to see my eye was puffier than usual and pretty red.
I was pissed off and went to bed with some tissue to collect the tears automatically running out of my ducts. Cursing myself, i went to bed promising myself that this time i actually had to see a doctor, i really needed to get drops.
I jerked awake at 8:30, worried about missing work or being late ( luckily i had a half day and was starting at 10). Then i became aware of how sticky, sandy, and sore my left eye felt, i looked at sorcha and said ' how bad is my eye'. The espression on her face told me everything. I leapt off of my top bunk to look in the mirror and almost started crying, maybe i did and mistook tears as this annoying eye juice.
My eye was blood red, burgundy almost. There were clustered red veins everywhere, and when i gently pried apart my tennis ball of an eye, it was like i hit the jackpot. Whenever I even slightly moved by eye, it hurt so much; imagine sand and asphalt and tiny razors tucked away evenly underneath your eyelids and every time your eyeball shifted they ground at your eyeball.
At first glance, people thought i was punched in the eye because the skin around it was so swollen and red. I could barely see out my left eye, because it was open 1/3 of the right one.
I was a zombie, halfway to being a cyclopes.
Carrying around tissue all the time because every few minutes i would have to dab the streaming liquid from my eyes.
The extreme conjunctivitis lasted 3 days. It only started to loose it's puffiness after that. And it was only yesterday that the redness began to fade.
I finally look back to normal, but feel ripped off after going to the hospital and having to pay 150 dollars just to have a consultation with the doctor.

Now that I've made your eyes water, i'll get on with what i have been up to - which is short and simple.
Thursday night, i was supposed to go out and celebrate Claire's birthday...unfortunately I was bedridden, too embarrassed to walk around the hostel ( sunglasses make you look sketchy past sunset) and too in pain to do anything else. Adrian set me up with some veggies and dip, and i set up camp for the night with some movies. I watched The Usual Suspects and The Notebook.
Friday I spent pitying myself and pretty much lounging around and hiding from new people i might have to explain what happened to my eye to.

Saturday Rhys came back, and i was reallly excited to see him. Everyone was! We (me, kate, duffy, rhys) went to that max brenners, willy wonka like, coffee place and did a bit of shopping. Kate Duffy disappeared to drink at Paul's and I took a much needed nap. My eye wasn't looking soo horrendous saturday night, and i was almost crawling the walls with boredom. I straightened the hell out of my fringe and did my best to make it cover my eye.
I caught a tram to meet up with duffy, and when i got there cam and Krissy were there. As the night went on more of the greenhouse crew came, and friends of theirs came. We had quite the impressive little group outside the builders that night. A fun night, but every time i went to the toilet, the reflection of my zombie eye in the mirror caught me off guard.
And can you guess, I spent almost all of sunday in bed hungover! Watched some awards show. Ate a little falafel. Watched a little Prestige. You know how it is.

I had an errand to run that morning, so i woke up at 8 o clock which felt like a cruel punishment. I was supposed to go to work, but eye was still not in the best condition.
Wed and Thurs I worked both mornings at the cafe. It's really fun how many visitors i get from the greenhouse :)
Last night I was waiting to catch a tram, and stupid me was kind and allowed this sketchy looking guy to sit next to me by edging over. I was pulling the 'im listening to music so dont bother talking' thing by wearing unplugged headphones and tapping my foot to invisible music. He insisted on asking me questions, until i drove it home that im not interested in chit chat.
He stared me the rest of the sit, then on the tram. I was forgetting about how creeped out i was, until he passed me a crumpled up paper that said ' will u B? my f.r.i.e.n.d' with his phone number on the back. I called my friend immediately to have them meet me at the stop.
The one time i'm nice. Well that won't be happening anymore...
