can't help from just smilin' when that damn sun is shinin'

Yes, I know it's 30 degrees ( atleast ) in Kitchener right now, and most of you have tans ( or sun burns ). Just so you know, this morning in Melbourne it was 3 degrees out. The trees are naked and their clothes are cluttering the stone laneways, and [ strangely enough ] the grass is very green. I feel like thanksgiving is around the corner, and soon we'll be elbow deep in pumpkin guts. It is a very confusing feeling, like i've been turned upside down and shaken about.I'm approaching my sixth month in the land of OZ. And only getting more invested in friends, culture, and working the 9-5 as foreplay for the explosive saturday nights that are almost always guaranteed.
I have a new job working at, another, insurance company. At first i was only on temp for someone on vacation but because i dazzled them with my hard work [ stop laughing ] and personality, my darling boss 'made room in budget' so i could stay for another two weeks. I'm doing administration work, yawn; inbound and outbound mail. I know it's not the most exciting thing, but my workmates make it bearable - and i'm also reading australian and canadian newspapers online. My first paycheck was very exciting last friday. I immediately went to the grocery store, and to the bottle shop for a six pack. Spent the night in.You appreciate the weekends so much more when you are working. Sleeping in on Saturday was decadent. Yes, even in a 4-share. I made a very eclectic breakfast feast, slipping into a morning-tea coma. I snapped out of it when i caught a glimpse of the very blue, and rare these days, sky and darted for the roof. Like usual, Moyles was hunched over his laptop, playing scrabble no doubt. And Claire, reclining in the sunlight reading some strange mystery novel, or something. Sounds of a band, and protesters echoeing up the buildings.Spent a good portion of time sipping coffee, chatting with claire and the irish-twins, and doing life-size shadow puppets. Im all grown up! Until i made a quick escape to fed square to people watch and snap [ and then turn away and examine my nails like i wasnt just taking their picture ].Plans were for the cinema; duffy, claire, adrian, james, and me. Hancock. We met outside the lift, grabbed some last minute treats at 7-11 and a little more at concession. I enjoyed the movie, but was disappointed; where was it going, and how many films was i watching. I can't help but like it because of will smith though- i mean come on. I laughed outloud and post giggled when he said something along the lines of 'its cause ive been drinking bitch'...had to be there? yeah. We made a b-line home, with some pit stops along the way. Some jugs at e55. Bottle shop. 7-11. Eventually arriving at that ol' familiar bench on the roof. Had a good time, originally planned on having a big night and instead took the traditional bottle of red and a tram to paul's.
The sky switched back to the regular grey and the wind picked up for Sunday. The day was spent, hungover like most, watching the boys play football, preparing a quality dinner, and stuffing my face with snacks whilst watching Jaws.
No, i did not take a time machine back to the 30's...but i did want to steal these kids.
